B2C Travel Booking Platform
Greece
About The Project
SEAJETS is a private marine transportation company and the largest operator of high-speed vessels and passenger ferries in the Aegean Sea. They offer over 400 ferry routes, connecting more than 50 ports across Greece.
The client wanted their website, which receives massive seasonal traffic, to also serve as a primary booking platform for passengers traveling across Greek islands and mainland ports.
This online booking platform consists of route search, destination guides, fleet information, ferry ticket booking, travel policies, and some other self-service tools for customers.
It offers features like multilingual information, online payments, real-time booking, and dynamic schedule management to ensure a seamless booking experience for local as well as international travelers.
Key Project Deliverables
We built a platform that can handle a high volume of web traffic and payment transactions from seasonal visitors without affecting its performance or user experience.
Online Ferry Booking System
Allows for quick search and selection of ferry routes and auto-generates a downloadable ticket for passengers after booking.
Payment Integration
Securely connected with multiple payment options. Maintains a transaction history and sends a success message post-payment.
Fleet Management Showcase
Users can access fleet details, such as vessel specifications and schedules. It also displays travel policies and onboarding details.
Destination & Travel Information Portal
It provides destination guides, travel updates, seasonal schedules and route information to help passengers plan their trips.
Multilingual Platform
The website features an option for content delivery in multiple languages to make information accessible to international travelers.
Customer Self-Service Portal
This enables users to check their bookings, manage reservations, receive travel notifications and submit customer support forms.
Project Challenges
After gathering project requirements from the stakeholders, our team defined the scope of work and outlined major challenges.
Incorporating features from route search and schedules to management of passenger information and booking confirmation in a user-friendly interface was a major technical challenge.
The website also experiences a sudden surge in web traffic during seasonal times. To balance that load on resources and maintain performance, we must build a scalable architecture.
Offering all web content in local languages across targeted regions and tailoring the booking experience culturally was an important project requirement. Ferry schedules, routes and vessel assignments change continuously. Enabling the client to make administrative changes and provide real-time updates was another hurdle.
To deliver a modern solution, our team also had to ensure that mobile users can seamlessly book and pay for tickets and travellers can manage their schedules, getting real-time updates on the journey through notifications.
Solutions & Impact
To address the project challenges and fulfill client requirements, our Drupal development team worked diligently to develop and deliver suitable solutions within a predetermined timeline.
The key offering of this project was a unified booking system. We used a robust, integrated search and booking engine to help visitors search, compare, and reserve ferry routes of their choice easily.
Our Drupal developers streamlined the PHP-based booking flow, which reduced the friction during conversion and made travel management easy. Implementing dynamic route discovery tools and intuitive UI navigation helps deliver an enhanced customer experience.
We empowered the administrators to handle multimedia content, fleet information, destinations, and dynamic schedules using a centralized Drupal CMS. With this, they have total control over their operational data and get updates in real-time.
Using Drupal, our developers designed a flexible architecture that easily supports increasing seasonal traffic and transactions without affecting system performance or business continuity. It also gives an opportunity for future scaling.
WPWeb Infotech delivered a modern, user-friendly self-service platform that actively encourages direct online ticket bookings, driving a higher conversion rate. It reduces administrative workload and manual customer service calls.
