About The Project
Big Machine Distillery is a Nashville-based craft spirits brand with multiple locations and a growing collection of bourbons and vodkas. The company offers both everyday products and limited-edition releases, as well as distillery tours, live events, and private experiences.
The client wanted a website that could do more than sell products. Customers needed a way to discover spirits, learn about brands, explore distillery locations, and book experiences on a single platform. The site also needed to reflect the brand’s connection to country music, motorsports, and premium craft spirits.
We built a Shopify 2.0 store that combines eCommerce, event promotion, and location discovery. The platform supports online sales, experience bookings, and marketing activities while providing the team with an easy way to manage content and launch new product releases.

Project Challenges
One of the main challenges was balancing compliance with user experience. Alcohol sales require age verification before customers can access products. The process needed to meet legal requirements without creating friction or taking away from the premium brand experience.
Another challenge was presenting products for different types of customers. The store includes affordable everyday spirits as well as high-value collector releases. Both product categories needed to feel equally important while maintaining a consistent design throughout the website.
The client also wanted to promote physical experiences alongside online sales. Distillery tours, events, and private bookings needed to be integrated naturally into the store without distracting from product purchases. In addition, the marketing team needed the ability to launch new limited-edition products quickly without relying on developer support for every update.
Solutions & Impact
We built a custom Shopify 2.0 experience that combines product sales, event promotion, and location information in a single platform. The design uses strong typography, rich imagery, and premium visual elements that match the distillery’s brand identity.
A branded age-verification system was added to meet compliance requirements while creating a smooth entry point to the website. The process feels like part of the brand experience rather than a separate legal requirement.
To support different customer groups, we created separate product layouts for collector releases and everyday spirits. Each template highlights the information most relevant to that audience while maintaining a consistent shopping experience.
We also built flexible content sections for location pages, events, and promotional campaigns. The marketing team can update content, create landing pages, and launch new product releases without technical assistance.
