About The Project

Finance Now is a New Zealand finance company offering personal loans, retail finance, business loans, and credit card products. Customers use these products to buy cars, go on holidays, make home improvements, fund business equipment, or consolidate multiple debts into a single payment. The company also works with over 1,500 retail partners to provide point-of-sale financing.

Before the portal, customers relied on paperwork, phone calls, and branch visits to apply for loans or manage accounts. It was slow, inconvenient, and prone to delays. Finance Now wanted to move the process online to speed up applications, shorten approval times, and give customers an easy way to manage their accounts.

We built a digital platform that supports the full loan journey. Customers can calculate repayments, submit applications, and track their loan status. The portal provides a consistent experience across all products while helping Finance Now staff handle applications more efficiently.

Major Project Challenges

The primary challenge involved consolidating diverse financial products into a single platform, despite each product maintaining distinct regulatory rules, interest rates, fee structures, and application workflows. The platform had to deliver a clear and consistent experience for customers while keeping each product compliant.

Another challenge was responsible lending requirements. New Zealand law requires affordability checks, disclosures, and accurate recordkeeping. These needed to be included in the application flow without making it long or confusing for customers.

Maintaining operational speed was critical. To support Finance Now’s promise of same-day loan approvals, the platform required real-time data transmission to internal teams and instantaneous automated updates for customers, all without sacrificing data accuracy. Balancing speed, compliance, and clarity for both customers and staff was vital.

We built the portal using ASP.NET MVC with a clear, layered structure. Each loan product is modular but shares common systems like identity verification, payment processing, and account management. This gives a consistent experience for all products and makes maintenance easier.

The application process was simplified. Customers can see repayment estimates in real time, complete forms online, and submit applications in clear steps. Calculators show fees and repayment amounts upfront to reduce confusion and build trust.

Compliance is integrated into the platform. Affordability checks, disclosures, and supporting documentation are part of the application flow. Internal teams get structured data that is easy to review and process.

The self-service portal allows customers to view balances, repayment schedules, statements, and transactions at any time. This reduces support calls and gives customers control over their accounts.

The portal now supports all Finance Now products. Applications are faster, approvals are quicker, and staff spend less time on paperwork. The system is ready for new products, retail partners, or credit card features without rebuilding the platform.
